1. Difference of dielectric materials
The dielectric material of ceramic capacitor is ceramic, and the film capacitor is made of metal foil as electrode, which is overlapped with polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene or polycarbonate plastic film from both ends and wound into a cylinder.
2. Different applications
Ceramic capacitors have small capacity, good high-frequency characteristics, and can be used at hundreds or thousands of degrees with low price. Generally used in bypass and filtering applications; thin film capacitor has high price, good stability, outstanding voltage and current resistance, but the capacity is generally less than 1mf, which is generally used for voltage reduction and coupling.
The difference between high voltage thin film capacitor and high voltage ceramic capacitor
1. The service life of high voltage ceramic capacitor is longer
The life of thin film capacitor is three or two years, and the product with good electricity will not exceed five years. High voltage ceramic capacitors are different. For example, TECO capacitor has publicly promised that it will be designed according to 20 years and will be used for at least 10 years.
2. The internal resistance of high voltage ceramic capacitor is smaller
This is determined by their respective structural characteristics. The internal resistance of high-voltage ceramic capacitor is very small, but the film capacitor is winded, which leads to large internal resistance. Another negative effect of this large internal resistance is that the internal resistance will continue to increase in the process of repeated charging and discharging, and the capacitance will fail in the circuit at a certain time.
3. Relatively speaking, the voltage of high voltage ceramic capacitor is higher
Relatively speaking, the working voltage of thin film capacitor is not as high as that of ceramic capacitor;
4. From the capacity analysis, the capacity of high voltage ceramic capacitor is smaller, and the capacity of thin film capacitor is larger.
Advantages of ceramic capacitors over thin film capacitors
1. High voltage ceramic capacitors are smaller in size. Take a product with the same voltage level as an example. If you want to make a high-voltage capacitor with capacity of 1NF and working voltage of 10kvac, if you use high-voltage ceramic capacitor to produce. There are several choices: for example, the Y5U material can be used to produce the final product, with a diameter of 8.5mm and a thickness of 6.0mm. If the Y5P material with better temperature characteristics is used, with a diameter of 16mm and a thickness of 6.0mm, these two materials can basically meet the requirements of power equipment according to different application environments. However, the size, thickness and height of high-voltage thin film capacitor will be much larger, which can not meet the requirements of practical application.
2. The voltage grade of high voltage ceramic capacitor and high voltage film capacitor are not in the same grade. The highest voltage of high voltage ceramic capacitor is 10kV, 15kV, 20kV and 30KV. The maximum voltage of the film is less than 10kV. However, if the high voltage film capacitor wants to achieve a higher voltage than the ceramic capacitor, it is necessary to make the product very large.
3. The life of high voltage ceramic capacitor is not in the same level as that of thin film capacitor. At present, the domestic power grid products and power capacitor parts need to be updated every two or three years, because the film products can not run for a long time. The common fire and explosion of transformer at home and abroad is mostly due to the capacitor. This kind of product containing oil, film and gas is prohibited by the state. (it is forbidden for a short time, just because there is no substitute product for the time being. And the price of ceramic capacitor will be higher.)
4. All solid state, dry type transformer, is a direction of development in the future. Because this product has more reliable security. Thin film capacitors can't do this, but ceramic capacitors can.
